The Sennheiser MZW 60-1 is the basket windshield system built for the MKH 416 and MKH 60 shotgun microphones, supplied here with pistol grip and furry windshield. The rigid open-cell basket creates a still-air volume around the capsule, cutting wind noise by a substantial margin on its own, and the furry cover adds the further attenuation needed for genuinely windy exteriors. The pistol grip provides elastic suspension that isolates the microphone from handling and pole-transmitted noise. This is the correct windshield for the MKH 416, and specifying them together is the difference between usable and unusable exterior dialogue on a coastal location.
