Description

The Sennheiser MKH 416 is the short shotgun microphone that defines the sound of film and television dialogue, and the single most frequently specified boom microphone on international productions. It uses an RF condenser design whose low impedance makes it remarkably resistant to humidity, which is the practical reason it keeps working on coastal and exterior locations where conventional condensers become noisy. The pattern is supercardioid at low frequencies and lobar at high frequencies, giving strong rejection of reflections in interiors, with a pronounced presence lift that makes voices cut through. It requires 48V phantom power. Used for boom dialogue, documentary, voiceover and ADR.
