Description

The Profoto B30 is a battery-powered monolight delivering 500 Ws over an 11 f-stop range, from 0.5 Ws to full power in tenths of a stop. Three flash modes change what the light does rather than just how it is labelled: Eco recycles from 0.01 to 1.8 seconds and runs cooler for long shooting days, Boost gives full power on demand at 0.01 to 2.1 seconds, and Freeze shortens the flash to 1/21100 s (t0.5) to stop movement in hair, water and fabric. Colour temperature holds at 6000 K plus or minus 100 K in Eco, so a sequence stays consistent without correction. The built-in LED is a genuine bi-colour continuous source at 40 W and up to 5000 lumens, adjustable from 2800 to 7000 K with CRI above 94, which covers short motion work on the same head. The flash tube is user-replaceable, so a tube can be changed on set instead of the head going out of service. The battery gives around 220 full-power flashes, the head weighs 2.1 kg with the stand adapter, and triggering is over AirX or a 3.5 mm sync port with TTL and HSS. The OCF mount takes the full Profoto modifier range.
