The Profoto Octa 3 is a 90 cm octabox supplied with speed ring, and it is the single most used soft modifier in professional portrait photography. Ninety centimetres is the size at which a source becomes genuinely soft on a face at normal working distance while still being small enough to keep off the background, which is why it ends up on the key light more often than any other box. The octagonal shape produces a round catchlight in the eye that reads as natural. It accepts grids for spill control and diffusion layers for further softening.
